RecuerdosMemories is a presentation of works that were executed two years prior to my partner's death in conjunction with a body of graphite drawings that were done at Yaddo and the MacDowell Colony in 1984, work which has not been shown before. While looking at this work I was taken by how the pencil drawings addressed my present emotional state while the wooden balls were more representative of feelings and memories I associate with my personal history. A history, I have used in my sculpture and
installation work
I hope by presenting this work together, I can communicate to the viewer a glimpse of my private world. A world and manner of working, I have closeted and chosen not to reveal on a professional level. However, the works figurative-identifiable imagery most adequately presents the life issues I have been experiencing over the last 4 years: Loss, abandonment, betrayal, displacement and death.
Opening Reception: September 5, 6-9pm
