Leslie Arlette Boyce

ABOUT THE ARTIST

Leslie Arlette Boyce has performed in a wide variety of venues for a twenty year period. Her work as an actor, and musical theatre performer ranges from the Sidney Lumet film "Q&A" to Elizabeth Swados' Caribbean musical "THE MERMAID WAKES". As a dancer, and performing artist, she has performed in the U.S. , Africa, and Europe in projects including works by Bill T. Jones/Arnie Zane and Company's "THE LAST SUPPER AT UNCLE TOM'S CABIN/THE PROMISED LAND", as well as performing works by original members of the Jose Limon company.

Ms. Boyce has also directed and choreographed productions for children at New York's Apollo Theatre, including "FLYING FABLES" and "THE LIFE AND LEGACY OF MADAM ZORA". At the Hartford Stage Company, Ms. Boyce choreographed a show entitled "I AIN'T Y'O UNCLE" as directed by Mr. Reggie Montgomery. In Europe, she choreographed an Afro-Cuban samba for the televised special "DANCE IN ATHENS". In addition, Ms. Boyce has created original 'sound scores' and performed as a percussionist for Ms. Edisa Weeks at DTW, P.S. 122 and DIA Center for the Arts, as well as performing with South Africa's Thuli Dumakude, and her accapella singing group TOKOZA. Leslie is also a visiting professor of dance at Bard College, and is assistant director to Reggie Montgomery for the musical "COMFORTABLE SHOES", which is scheduled to open on Broadway sometime in 1998.
