ARTIST STATEMENT
DARLENE WOLFE

I believe that all things are interconnected, a force which I call "The Weave of Life." Various cultural influences are woven into my creations from places and people I've encountered in my travels. Primal elemental forces in nature that symbolize the cycles of life, death and rebirth intrigue and influence me as well.

When I am creating art I travel on an inner journey of unknown where everything around me becomes a surprise, mystery, and a new awakening. Attention and intention fuse as a sense of time dissipates. My self clinging personality melts away allowing effort to become effortless. Absorbed in pure fascination of the various textures of materials and their nuances I sense the energy of a particular object and it speaks to me. There is a sacred dialogue and force that transpires between the materials and how they want to interrelate. My curiosity heightens as an improvisational dance occurs.

The culmination of these influences shapes my self-taught artistry and has reinforced my natural instincts that "the art process" is my teacher.
