Norwegian artist Britt Hennig makes her US debut at Micro Museum in Brooklyn.

Britt Hennig's series of masterful still-life paintings will be on display at Micro Museum, 123 Smith St., Brooklyn, New York December 1-14, 2003. An opening reception will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2003, 6:30-9:30 PM -- featuring Incognito, early music trio and Art Discussion on Sunday, December 7 at 4 PM

Britt was born in Kristiansand on the southern coast of Norway and moved to Copenhagen, Denmark at a young age where her career as a painter began. She returned to Norway to study Art History at the University of Oslo, specializing in the Flemish and Dutch painters of the 14th-16th centuries. Britt’s work is clearly inspired by these masters as well as by the New Realistic Romantic group of painters of Norway.

Hennig’s meticulously constructed spaces demonstrate her deft treatment of the oil paint medium, superior craftsmanship, and perceptive eye. Evident in each painting is her keen sensitivity to the effects of light and color which serve to intensify the compositions, allowing them to transcend their ostensible subject matter. The manipulation of light and shadow transform these delicate scenes into poetic images that reveal precise spatial relationships and a glimpse into another world.

Britt has exhibited internationally for over 10 years, her works are part of esteemed private collections in Europe and North America.

Britt Hennig currently resides in Switzerland, in the Lake Geneva area.
